Executive Director


You will be at the helm of a dynamic, passionate, entrepreneurial, grassroots-driven organization and will be committed to continuing the founder’s vision of “making myeloma matter”. Collaborating closely with the Board of Directors, you will implement the Board’s strategies and priorities to achieve their mission. You will act as spokesperson regarding the disease and organization, you will raise the national and international profiles of Myeloma Canada through innovative “patient-first” programs and secure its future through sound and well-targeted fundraising. With an abundance of untapped potential and poised for significant growth, the successful Executive Director will work determinedly to promote Myeloma Canada’s profile, strengthen grass-roots cooperation, and collaborate closely with a broad range of stakeholders, both nationally and internationally, including, but not limited to, other patient organizations, government agencies, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academia and the Myeloma Canada Research Network.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading a small, entrepreneurial, results-driven organization, preferably, although not necessarily, in the healthcare field. You will have a great sensitivity, interest and commitment to social issues and in all matters related to Myeloma Canada’s mission. Will share our values of empathy, creativity and imagination, drive, passion and enthusiasm. You will have a wide and varied network of contacts and a demonstrable track record in the development and implementation of successful fundraising strategies. You are a visionary with a career path marked by implemented successes, and a professional who values transparency, accountability, honesty and integrity with a strong awareness of governance issues and ethical standards. As an able motivator and through team-building and leadership, you will bring out the best from our staff and large volunteer base. As a talented and able speaker, you will reach audiences within the organization and beyond.


Able to travel, within Canada and internationally, to represent Myeloma Canada. Excellent verbal and written skills in both French and English. Excellent organizational and presentation skills. Computer literacy including social media.


Please note that this is a newly created position at Myeloma Canada. The Executive Director will take over from the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, who will share his experience and expertise over a pre-determined transition period.
